Here's What Everyone Is Talking About In Comics: 12/8 Edition

There is just too much news right now and instead of spamming the front page with it all I present you the condensed version of the news stories you'll find everyone else talking about today in comics.

Archie Drama

Kind of like this but meaner and with a slap!

What do you think of when you think Archie Comics? Wholesome? Family? All Ages? Well apparently if you work there your boss harasses you and says inappropriate things in the work place like, "How's that "happy" book coming along you doo-doo head?" That last part is a lie, but the rest is true. So true that Nancy Silberkleit the Co-CEO of Archie has been barred from the office and of harassing the employees. Personally I think that's awesome, this family brand has a foul mouthed goon in charge.

PocketGod

I can't wait to not read this ever.

WellPocket God has become the highest selling digital comic book of all time asit hit 500,000 downloads! Of course if Comixology and it’s “partners” wouldrelease their sales figures we could know for sure, but in the meantime congratsto iVerse and Ape Entertainment. Now quickly some name another book they’vereleased this year? You can’t can you?

WTF Men at War

Why is his knife going directly towards his head?  I call bullshit.

Let me get this straight, you're taking JT Krul off of all the books that he's been bombing on since the relaunch and then attaching him to a book that's circling the bottom of the toilet already? A) Stop giving him books to write and B) Cancel Men at War already. Its the book everyone wants to like, but they can't find a reason too.

Bendis Leaving Avengers

Ah, the last issue of New Avengers I ever read.

Well here's two books that are about to go through terrible growing pains. Of course that's what you get when you let one guy write all of your Avenger stories for over five years. Now we're all going to have to watch as Marvel places whatever creative team they think can handle the series until finally finding someone that can get the sales. Bendis noted that he's written more issues than anyone else of Avengers. Some times it sounds like he's just trying to hold as many records as possible within Marvel. I know I won't miss amazing story lines like Luke and Jessica at diner... talking a lot. Seriously Bendis you're one step away from being Chris Claremont, remember less is more.

Sailor Moon A-1, Duke of New York 3 Months in a Row

This isn't that big of news, but the Sailor Moon series has been re-released in the States and has managed to pull of being number on on the Neilsen graphic novel charts for three months running. Outside of The Walking Dead it also had the best showing as far as volumes in the top twenty. Why do I bring this up? Because I want these fucking books! Yeah go ahead and make fun of me I like Sailor Moon and I don't give a crap what you think, so if a kind soul is in a giving mood you know where to find me.

The last one was already covered by Kevin so check it out here!

Here's What Everyone Is Talking About In Comics

There's not much news or controversy this week. Sure there's some controversy from Men's Health from last week, but I don't feel a man who looks and talks like an alcoholic should be criticizing anyone's life so I'm going to ignore it and that publication. At any rate, here's the buzz from everyone else right now.

AMC Renews Walking Dead... again. - Seriously this is news? Why is this even a question or is it just to keep the buzz going? Does AMC announce every time it renews Mad Men? This show is making money and soon we're going to have a flood of Zombie TV shows and then finally the genre will be dead and we can revive it in twenty years.

The check that bought Superman - I like history, and this is a great part of it but its also not a very big deal. Maybe in the pending court case it is, but people are acting like this check is the holy grail or some shit. At any rate, it's being put up for auction.

Shonen Jump Cancelled For Digital - In a business move that makes no sense, Viz is cancelling it's #1 selling Shonen Jump in favor of a weekly digital release. Why they wouldn't just continue both is beyond me, but from the sounds of this interview from ICv2 there isn't much consistency to their business strategy.

Wizard World to Unmask This Dude:

This real life vigilante will be unmasked at some shitty Wizard World event. That didn't take long for him to go all Booster Gold and reveal his identity for some money. Oh wait, I'm guess this was all just to launch the new comic book Phoenix Jones from Wizard's Digital Comic line...

Source: Major Spoilers

Bill Jemas (aka Guy Who Saved Marvel From Bankruptcy) Goes To Wizard - Remember that digital line I was telling you about? Well it's probably just for the magazine right? But why would a company that's also produced comics stop there? At any rate Jemas is with Wizard now... doing stuff that no one actually knows about yet... like that Phoenix Jones comic all the kids are talking about!

Sure I could have used a recent photo, but this one was bomb!

Here's What Everyone Is Talking About In Comics

I just don't have the time today to make a bunch of mini news post so we're just dumping it all into one happy bag of crap. Why crap? Because most of what everyone is talking about is crap. Let's get the crap going.

Bleeding Cool Ruins Dark Horse Announcement of New Conan Team

Yup, the news organization that doesn't understand that they suck the joy out of special announcements has announced that the new creative team for Conan is Brian Wood and Becky Cloonan. Frankly this would have been awesome as hell to hear with a bunch of similar minded people in oh about two weeks when DH will officially announce it. The Demo team probably had a lot of free time now that DC has regressed back to 90's style comic books. Oh well another awesome announcement ruined by the guys who always want to shout, "First!"

Dan Didio Says "Crisis What?" Over The Weekend

I think Bleeding Cool broke this story too, but it could have been anyone of Dan Didio's Facebook friends that spread the news too so we'll just credit the Internet for this one. Basically Didio said that in the new DCnU continuum that no Crisis ever happened. Hopefully this doesn't give them the idea that fans want another one to happen since that brand is basically dead and leaves a foul taste in people's mouths.Didio basically admitted that the whole thing was to convoluted to expect writers and creative teams to follow, Here's my thoughts... WHY THE FUCK WAS THIS EVEN ON THE TABLE! Seriously what the hell were they thinking even considering this to be apart of the history? It's bad enough we still have all the shit in Batman's life and some of the shit in Green Lantern's life, but they actually wanted the Crisis' involved? Fuck me that's stupid. I imagine the conversation went like this:

Dan
"Hey Guys, let's start the entire DCU over and include the Crisis Saga in it!"

Everybody Else
"But Dan, this is a chance for a fresh start. No more jacked up continuum to worry about and finally the fans will get off our ass!"

Dan
"Nah, we can do it. I can't bare the thought of losing the ending to Final Crisis. You know where Superman defeats some evil (that I still don't quite understand) with a single note of a song."

Blank stares from the room.

Dan
"You know what loose it, better yet I'll tell everyone on Facebook."

Nonplayer #2 Delayed Due To Accident That Happened Two Weeks Ago...

Let me just say that I'm a fan of Nonplayer so much so that I was probably the first person to interview Nate Simpson about the book. A few weeks ago he apparently was in an accident and I'm glad that he's okay and recovering, but for some reason the delay for issue #2 of Nonplayer is being pinned on this accident from a few weeks ago. Now let me point out that the first issue came out in March of this year. Let's do the math and all agree that there is no way that this accident delayed the book initially. Sure it's stopping him from finishing it now, but there ain't no way, no how that it stopped it the other six months. Also I know that the movie rights were already picked up and at this rate the movie will be out first. Call me heartless, but I like people to accept responsibility for their tardiness and end up like Mark Millar, Jeph Leob, Kevin Smith, Damon Lindelof, J. Michael Strczynski and really the list goes on and on.

I Will Read This Marvel Book

Rick Remender is apparently one of Marvel's next "Architects" as he's crafting his own story-line running through... something. Frankly I don't know what the hell is going on at Marvel as they just have too many fucking books out. But this one... I'm reading. Also, unless its Future Foundation they need to stop saying "Foundation" because at first I thought there were five new FF books.
