Just kidding its only a variant cover! I know some of you just took a sigh of relief while others might be genuinely disappointed. CBR had a first look at the BotCon variant of the Pinkie Pie issue #5 cover from artist Tony Fleecs. Since both properties are Hasbro I wonder how long until we see My Little Pony Transformer figures... and an actually crossover comic. You know its really coming and when it does, that will be the official time of death for Transformers.

We kind of ended up with a "DC" theme this weekend... sorry? I guarantee that these art pieces are going to be very different from everything else though. They're from Canadian artist Sandra Chevrier and it's a combination of a portrait mixed with a collage of old comic books. The series is called, "Caged" and it only features women portraits, but the comics are DC characters... not all women either. Just check it out for yourself because I have no way of explaining... I'm still trying to figure out why they're called "Caged".

In other news I'm officially done with Kickstarter. Great idea and all, but this shit is out of control. Seriously, don't send me your projects because I'm not doing it (IndieGoGo is still okay). This is going to be the first time that I tell you about a Kickstarter and then tell you not to support it. Seriously, if Rob Liefeld can't get a fucking comic book made, that's because it's his fault. You don't get to burn every fucking bridge around you and then ask your dwindling fan base to tie themselves together so you can get off the island. I'm sorry, I'm not fucking doing it. I'm not even giving you a link so that you can think about supporting this. Also, in case you were wondering, that fucking art is new! Now that's not a hold over from 1997 with a new slap of paint on it, that's fucking new.
I debated even talking about this project, but I saw enough sites and people laughing it off and joking about supporting it that I had to say something. Honestly, I don't even care that he wants to pull a Top Cow and give the issue away for free to everyone... because that's the only way you'll get me to read a Brigade book in the first place. Currently, is 44% funded with 28 days left to go... I can't fucking sigh hard enough. The turn over continues at DC as long time DC scribe James Robinson announced via Twitter that he had quit DC and that Earth 2 #16 was his final issue. Kind of makes you wonder how the Earth 2 line will do especially since they announced at Wonder Con that they would be expanding it sometime this year. Frankly, it's just another veteran writer leaving the company and it doesn't even phase me anymore. Especially since other writers that I enjoy are taking the positions and we've really yet to see the effects of the talent leaving. I do think DC needs to get their shit in order and soon before this entire reboot becomes pointless as they continue to slip into a solid second place. That and I hear that the new CEO of the WB knows his comics... okay now I'm taking beats on how long it will be before Robinson announces his first creator owned series at Image or a Marvel book.

Dynamite Entertainment is proud to announce the upcoming LORDS OF MARS #1 debut in August 2013, a crossover that sees Tarzan and Jane Porter of their LORD OF THE JUNGLE series team with John Carter and Dejah Thoris of the WARLORD OF MARS franchise. The six-issue series will be written by Arvid Nelson and illustrated by Roberto Castro, with the first issue available in multiple cover editions featuring art by Alex Ross, Francesco Francavilla, Dan Panosian, and Ardian Syaf.
We're drawing closer and closer to Titan Comics print launch and one of their titles coming in October (you're going to hate that in a minute) is Death Sentence. The trailer is basically going to tell you everything else you need to know and it's pretty awesome looking. With the motion comic and the appearance of Captain Hook, Peter Panzerfaust has picked up a lot of steam recently. And that's good! It's a fantastic series that continues to get better. Issue #11 actually kicks off a new story arc and with it comes an incentive cover from Rob Gullory (Chew). If you like the cover then you should talk to your comic shop... or get screwed on ebay, your choice. Either way get the book and read it!

Personally, I enjoyed the first volume of this series and I will definitely check out this volume as well. I'm curious to see what's new in the world that Gage has created and frankly I'm just glad Gage is back doing creator owned work. Can't say that I've been a huge fan of his work-for-hire stuff lately.

Casino Royale is one of my favorite Bond movies and I doubt I'm alone when I say that this is one of, if not the best Bond opening. Bricktease has redone it all with Lego and it's actually pretty cool. Warning, it will make you want to watch the movie... or buy some Lego. Also this just seem appropriate with the specualtion that Christopher Nolan is being approached to direct Bond 24.

I was not expecting what The Loop, had to offer. I didn’t expect to have my mind fucked with in the most interesting of ways. I didn’t know what to expect from The Loop and that’s what made it so enjoyable. One of the single greatest pleasures a comic book reader can have is going into a story and having no idea what it’s about. Perhaps a synopsis was read, but that is the story boiled down to its simplest form… it doesn’t capture the feeling or tone of the story and its only goal is grab your curiosity.
I remember one of the first comics I blindly grabbed was Blue Monday: The Kids Are Alright #2; I had no idea what it was about. I knew that J. Scott Campbell had drawn the cover, but that I liked the art inside a hundred times better. This is nothing like Blue Monday, but it gave me that same sensation; that same “high” as I read it. I became so entranced with this book that when my wife began telling me something I eventually failed to answer back and then failed again to repeat back what she had said. That’s right, The Loop causes petty arguments in relationships if you’re not careful.
I had to re-read the opening because it’s so out of context from the rest of the story. It’s not that it doesn’t make any sense; it’s just that it’s starting at a point in the story in which the main character already has more information than the reader and he’s not catching us up. I love a good story that can just begin without you, but you eventually catch up with towards the end. Literally you’ll have a moment where everything in the beginning that confused you, but still convinced you to keep reading… becomes clear. The seemingly random events become clear.

There is of course the long running Sixth Gun and the even longer running Wasteland, but really it's all about Scott Pilgrim.
