Review: G.I. Joe: Cobra Files #2

If you are looking for all out action G.I. Joe… this isn’t it. This is more a psychological mind bender with rogue agents and intelligence extraction. I don’t think this is everybody’s cup of tea for the series but definitely something different and worth taking a shot on.  It’s also nice to see someone other than the popular characters highlighted in the series.

In Las Vegas at the Joes secret base they have one man captured. Who is he? He is the son of the former Cobra Commander.  As he regains consciousness, he’s startled by Lady Jane’s and Ronin’s presence and their rapid fire interrogation. As they are escorted from the room, Chameleon enters to use her approach. Chameleon is still looking for a challenge for her abilities and she uses her tactics to get one piece of information: the independent ex-military and intelligence contractors the Tiger Team.

Okay, These Comics Really Have Been Banned By Apple

Comixology updated their blog saying that they've heard back from Apple's content censors checkers and they have in fact had some titles removed from their Apple store. There are a couple things to note first before we get to the titles: 1) If you already bought them you're golden they can't take your purchases away 2) you can still buy them on Comixology and they will sync to your Apple device 3) Saga DID NOT get banned 4) Omaha the cat was on there before this? Really? No idea how that one slipped by in the first place, but good on anyone that bought it.

At any rate it's an interesting list, but nothing that is surprising. Sex was banned though the first issue was timid as fuck compared to other comics that managed to make it past the Apple censors (I'm not going to name them because it's more fun this way). Other titles include Black Kiss and Black Kiss 2, Boys: Herogasm, The Asylum of Horrors and Angry Youth Comix to name a few. The full list will be after a jump, but I really think that Apple has become the new Comics Code Authority. Oh well, I stopped buying comics from them and if I get digital I go to the website to get it.

Here's the full list:

Title Announcement: Realm Knights from Zenescope

Zenescope Entertainment has announced plans to bring together a cast of its most popular Grimm Universe characters for the upcoming mini-series which will be entitled Realm Knights. The company best known for re-telling classic stories with a unique blend of horror, tongue-in-cheek humor and great action, is bringing out its heavy hitters for this brand new four issue mini-series that teams up its fan-favorite characters such as Robyn Hood, Van Helsing, Red Riding Hood and Sela Mathers. Together the group forms the Realm Knights, a powerful modern day team of heroes that is chosen to help eliminate daunting supernatural threats against our world.

“It's a great mix of fantasy, action, horror and humor.” says writer Patrick Shand. “It's a blast to take these characters out of their separate titles and allow them to come together against common threats while also trying to get along with one other. For Grimm Fairy Tales fans, the elements will be familiar but also feel fresh and different.”

Blue Water Takes A Look At Superman and Wonder Woman Creators

Out on May 22nd, in the Bluewater Productions brand "Orbit" comic books comes "Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster: the Creators of Superman."

Everyone knows Superman came from Krypton, but he also came from the minds of Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. These two artists labored in obscurity for years, and they were eventually rescued by the fandom they inspired. Here's the story of these Clevelanders who created a world, changing ours forever.

"Siegel & Shuster: the Creators of Superman" is written by Jon Judy with art by Matita Copertina.

"When Bluewater approached me about writing a biography comic of Siegel and Shuster, I just couldn't pass it up. Superman has been such an integral part of my life for as long as I can remember, and I relished the opportunity to pay my respects in what I hope is an entertaining and informative format. I approached this as a love letter to Jerry and Joe, and I hope that affection shows," said writer Jon Judy.

DC Declares June 12th Man of Steel Day

People worry that comic shops will go extinct one day, but I think there's always going to be hold outs no matter what. Why? Because of things like FCBD (Though I agree with Ken Eppstein of Nix Comics and it should just be Comic Book day) and things like Man of Steel day.

If you go to your participating comic book shop on Wednesday, June 12, then you'll receive a free special edition of Action Comics #1 and will also be able to purchase the first issue of Superman: Unchained as well. I know at this point basically everyone owns a copy of the new Action Comics, but consider this: Marvel gave away the first Ultimate Spider-Man for FCBD so many times that eventually the first prints of the FCBD edition actual have a value now. Yeah, a free issue is worth money.

That's not the only reason you should go as DC/WB is sending promotional posters and bags to shops and it will also be the first day to pick up some of the grotesque action figures they've created for the film. DC even has you covered if you're a digital fan too, but fuck that shit you can look it up on your own.
