Review: Star Wars: Agent of the Empire, Iron Eclipse #3
Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 7:00AM Jahan Cross escapes the party and the cops when he dartsaway on a speeder and ditches it in the drink. With nowhere to turn, Cross finds refuge from the spacepirate who can make the Kessel Run in under twelve parsecs: Han Solo.
Cross hires Han to fly him out to investigate The Eclipse, Stark’s antigravity resort. Before he jets off, he tangles withEmesh Nar (and by tangling I mean beat up, laser, and rob).
Reporting in to clear his name in the murder of one of theStark heirs, the agent finds out that he is in deeper trouble than heanticipated. With Sergeant Myrskon his tail, Cross flies off in Emesh Nar’s spacecraft. A chase ensues, and the agent ditchesthe craft.
I’m really starting to enjoy this series. This issue helped me immensely becausethe pacing was so much better than issue #2. Gone are the long episodes of explication. Issue #3 moved at a good clip, and thestory found its rhythm early.
Cross differs little from the atypical Bond secret agent;however, his character brings interest to the Star Wars Universe. Sergeant Myrsk provides a decentantagonist for Cross, but I feel the agent would be more driven by a connivingenemy that had more powerful machinations. Perhaps the next issue will providea better nemesis to challenge Cross.
If you are a Star Wars fan, you will like this book. If not, I can’t say this book will beyour new favorite.
