Review: Batman #6

Some may deem Batman issue 5gimmicky, but the book took some risks with the art and storytelling to makethe comic a twisting puzzle of a Batman tale.

Issue six opens where five left off: The Court of Owlsimprisoned Batman in a psychedelic prison that forces the Caped Crusader toface his deepest fears.  Stabbed, beaten, and crazed, Batman stands before the court for a verdict.

And the judgment is death.

While the book didn’t twist and turn, it does allow Batmanto be an unparallel fighter AND a brilliant detective.  The way the Dark Knight gets out ofthis predicament is both pugilistic and scientific.  Snyder doesn’t forget that Batman is one of the mostintelligent heroes, and the writer proves it with this issue.

I won’t say much more about this issue because I want to goback and re-read it.  Batman has hooked me in.  I’m starting not to resent the reboot of “The New 52” (I’mobligated to say that term in every DC Comic review.

Very exciting and fun. This is a rewarding read of a comic.
