Episode 17 - A Bottomless Bag of Reese's

What a week we've all had huh? We hit our 1,000 th post and then totally forgot to pick a winner on the podcast which buys all of you more time! This week we discuss the first episode of Comic Book Men and how much it bored us, then we dive right into books we've read. For myself it was Project 17, The Pack and the Black Swan. On Kevin's side of things he talked about Rotten from Moonstone Books and the new Dragon Age digital only comic book coming out this week from Dark Horse Comics. I think we talked about cocaine as well, but not in a positive way... I think.

Boing-chicka-boing-boing....

Zombies, werewolves, vampires - it's all more of the 'been there, done that, almost bought the ironic t-shirt' for me. My resolution not to buy any more zombie related products in 2012 means that I'm going to miss out on Vertigo's The New Deadwardians miniseries, which looks like it could be good - putting an English class system spin on the whole zombies and vampires - but I'm totally fine with that if it means my money can go to something vaguely original (and it's probably safer to wait for the trade in case it is rubbish). I'll put Night of the Creeps on my list of things to check out though and I'll take a punt on Project 17 too.

I wanted to like Comic Book Men. I tried. I heard Kevin Smith interviewed about it and thought "ok, reality tv about a comic shop, Kevin Smith, this could be good" but no. Just no. Guess I forgot how much I hate reality TV. After the seeing their delight at basically screwing over the GI Joe toy owner into accepting way less than he should have under the pressure of being filmed for TV I thought "screw this" and switched off. I also suspect that Lazy Beard Guy's mention of a girlfriend was a lie for the cameras.

I agree about Comic Book men, I just watched the second ep. and I still like to see the swag that gets bought but all other aspects of the show I couldn't give a poop about.

As for Night of the Creeps, I could have my fanboy blinders on but I just love that movie. It just did so many things that I loved as a horror fan not only that if was fun as hell.

I gave Comic Book Men a shot. It was a disappointing show. It felt like another podcast that Smith was doing except that now he is getting paid for it on TV. The only guy that I found funny through out the episode was Bryan Johnson. Everyone one else I couldn't care less for in the show. The people coming in to sell there stuff was ok but there was not enough of it to hold my interest. Mewes and his waka waka moments was really cheesy and forced. I am probably ok not watching another episode. Sorry Mr. Smith but it was not your best move.
