Review: Hulk #48

"Red Sky Morning, Part 2"

Red Hulk and Machine Man wage an onslaught against Zero/One and her crew.  Red She-Hulk waits to join the fight on a nearby boat.  Yawn.

She does when Machine Man gets his arms cut off.  Some more shot happens, but it's just tedium.

Red Hulk was fun when he was a mystery.  His fights with Banner Hulk made for some good knock-down brawls.  But this Thunderbolt Ross Hulk seems so flaccid now that the mystery has been disclosed.

I hate to sound like a purist, but I miss the old formula.  You remember when Banner was harassed by the bad guys until he got angry and fucked some shit up.  Now, Red Hulk is big and powerful; yet he can't smash the 'polymer' that keeps Zero/One's base in tact.
Hulk can't smash?  Are you fucking kidding me?  That's a concept as stupid as taking an Italian cruise.  Hulk should be an unstoppable freight train force of nature that you hope you can get out of the way before he goes gamma on your ass.

This Hulk can't seem to smash my boredom.  Skip this book, and spend your money on something else.

And the artwork is bland and simple.  Look at that cover.  Red Hulk looks like a stoplight on steroids.  How sad...
