First Look: The Spider #1... This Might Not Suck

I'm not really sure if The Spider and The Shadow fall into public domain or if Moonstone Books has lost the license to the titles, but this is sad news. Moonstone is the entire reason I got into pulp and these characters to begin with, but now it looks like the one company you don't want handling a license that you care about.

I'm going to check this book out because of David Liss. Also the fact that the art isn't terrible like most of their books helps too. I like The Spider and I really like pulp comics, but I've yet to see Dynamite handle anything with love and care. Instead they tend to pump things out and sell covers. You can rush pulp, but it won't be very good. It needs to be developed and executed properly which is again, not Dynamites strength. The book hits in May, probably the week that Marvel and DC won't be launching their own big books. I will say that the original Spider costume isn't great, but it's better than this new one. He looks like a pumpkin in a suit and it's sad that none of the covers are consistent with the design... all four hundred of them.
