Deadhorse Creator Asks "What Is It Worth?"

Unlike the mystery in Deadhorse, it is very clear that I really fucking like Deadhorse. When writer Eric Grissom emailed me a blog posting he did about the price of Deadhorse I thought for sure it was about a price increase. Which personally I was fine with. I have bought digital only books from independent creators for more than the 99 cents they were asking for. After reading the posting though... that was not the case.

Instead the creators have decided to let you decide what you want to pay for the comic. Meaning you can be a dick and pay nothing for the book or you can support it with as much money as you want. Literally the possibility of paying nothing to hundreds of dollars if you so choose. This is only being offered on their site Deadhorse.com as it will continue to be a fixed price on Graphicly at just 99 cents. Not what I expected, but pretty fucking bold. I hope that my reviews have steered you towards checking this book out and now you have the opportunity to support it how you see fit. Personally I haven't been able to buy the third issue from Graphicly, so instead I put down five bucks and grabbed issue #3.

Why? Well I pay three to four dollars for a book from one of the "Big Two" and don't enjoy them nearly as much. I'm looking forward to the next issue of Deadhorse and if it's half as good as the other issues I'll be satisfied. I like this idea of letting people decide how much they want to pay and hopefully you slap down some money, even if it's just a buck.

If you still don't know what Deadhorse is then check out our reviews:
