Review: The Strange Talent of Luther Strode #5
Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 8:00AM The Strange Talent of Luther Strode #5 just might be the easiest review I've ever written for a comic. In this penultimate issue of the series is where the proverbial shit begins to really hit the fan.
Back a Luther’s place Pete is filling Luther’s mom in on what’s going on until they are rudely interrupted; The Liberian shows up and takes it to another level.
Luther makes it home to find that Pete and his mom are okay. Then he immediately heads to back out to the streets. This leaves Pete to explain what the hell is going on with Luther. Meanwhile, Petra is in the clutches of some unruly thugs seeking revenge on Luther. But she’s not your typical damsel in distress; she puts up a fight just in time to see Luther arrive and do some “real work”.
That’s about all you can really say about this issue due to the fact that is so action orientated. It’s not a secret but I’m going to say it again, I have enjoyed the hell out of this series and from some of the responses on the site a lot of you guys have too. Simply put Luther is a ton of fun to read. A few things that help it reach such a plateau is that the series has had some of the best pacing that I’ve read in a while, match that with Tradd Moore’s kick-ass art, Justin Jordan’s cool story and The Strange Talent of Luther Strode is the reason you read comics. Now all they have to do is not fuck up the last issue/the ending and you’ll have a comic classic. Believe!
