PR: Mudman #1 and #2 Head Back To The Printers

This news really comes as no surprise to me. You may recall that I highly enjoyed the first issue and dug the second issue as well. If you missed them and still shun digital (good for you!) then you'll be happy to know that you've got a second chance at romance picking these books up. Want to know why you should? Check out the first and second issue reviews.

Readers wanting to catch up on MUDMAN, Paul Grist’s unique take on the superhero, will now get their chance. The first two issues of a story Grist describes as “all about growing up and finding your way in the world, and how the decisions that you make can affect others” sold out. But now new printings of MUDMAN #1 (DEC118139) and MUDMAN #2 (DEC118140) will be available at the same time MUDMAN #3 (NOV110463) hits the stands on Wednesday, February 14. In addition, MUDMAN #1’s second printing will feature a brand new cover by Grist and the cover of MUDMAN #2 will have new coloring.

Like the hero of Grist’s beloved series JACK STAFF, MUDMAN’s Owen Craig is a distinctly British superhero, but in an entirely different way. An unsure teen in an English seaside town, Owen discovers that he’s different. His body is turning to mud, and he must learn to control it before he gets stuck in his tiny hometown in a way he never anticipated.

“Even after producing amazing work over the course of almost 20 years, Paul Grist remains one of comics’ best kept secrets,” said Image Comics Publisher Eric Stephenson. “MUDMAN is just the latest example of Paul's wonderfully unique sensibilities, and following the rave reviews the early issues have received, we want to this is something new readers can discover at any time.”

MUDMAN is a full-color comic book series that reviewers have called “free of manufactured angst,” “great fun” and “not to be missed.” It is released monthly, for $3.50 per issue, and is also available through digital platforms.

i checked out this comic because you guys gave some awesome reviews for it. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, however, i didnt find it jaw dropping. I believe you gave this comic 5/5 which is really rare. You also did that for Strange Talents for Luther Strode, a title i found pretty damm amazing. I dont know.. I feel like this comic has much potential but as of right now i wouldnt know where to stand with it. this, of course, is just ma opinion.

In all honesty, I think giving the first issue a 5 was too high. In retrospect it set the bar too high even for myself for the second issue. You're right though, it has great potential. Unfortunately I think its already fallen behind on its shipping schedule so we'll see. It's no Luther Strode for sure, but I enjoy the story telling style and that essentially the first story arc was the first two issues. I'll definitely be more critical of the third issue after the second issue let me down.

Also I changed the review number for the second issue, I'll leave the first since it wowed me. BUT I thought that I gave the second issue a 3 not a 4.

I'm happy that Mudman is receiving so much support from fans, especially over in the USA. It's a great book, issues #1 and #2 were bloody good fun.

It probably helps that half of my family is from an English seaside town just like Burnbridge-on-sea and the other half is from Birmingham, like the bank robber ("yow" = "you") so I immediately developed a personal attachment to it.

Grist being writer and artist gives each page a very distinctive style too, another plus.
