Nix Comics Is Having A Contest

Here's a taste of the contest rules and requirements. You'll have to head over to Nixcomics.com to get the full set of rules and find out who the special judges are.

Contest Rules:

Artists may submit one a one panel scene featuring a recurring one of the following recurring Nix Comics characters:

Bus Stop Ned
Pander Bear
The Vicar (Haven’t read Nix Comics Quarterly? Well, that doesn’t mean you ain’t invited to the party! Free B&W versions of the back issues are available in the archives section and the Pander Bear webcomic is just a click away. And of course, you could always buy a copy or two, supporting the arts and indies and all that… Be sure to read the Character Specs and Scene Requirements at the end of this page!)

Panels must be submitted attached to an email to ken@nixcomics.com with the subject line: “Contest Entry.” The body of the email must include your name, mailing address, age and a link to an on-line gallery or website featuring the artist’s work. (The latter only if available)

All entries should be submitted as 72 DPI jpgs, Print size no larger than 8.5"x11"

Color vs. B&W is up to the artist.

Each artist may enter up to three times: Once for each character.

Artists who have previously published in Nix are eligible, but may not submit a character they have already had published. (e.g. Bob Ray Starker cannot submit a Pander Bear entry. Or Bus Stop Ned. He’s free to consider the Vicar.)

Deadline for entries is Saturday March 17th, 2012.

The Editor's top three choices for each category will be scored by a panel of judges.
The highest scoring entry in each category will win a $25 Visa Gift Card.

Winners will be announced on Twitter and Facebook on March 31st. Only the winning scores will be made public.

Additionally, after the category winners are chosen, all entries will be posted on the Nix Comics Facebook. The entry that receives the most “Likes” by April Midnight April 7th, eastern Standard time will win a $50 Visa gift card.
