Maintaining The Number 52: DC Finally Cancels Six Books, Starts Six More
Thursday, January 12, 2012 at 1:44PM Well it looks like Kevin's guilty pleasure Hawk and Dove is finally getting the axe. Thank God! Sadly though a a book I enjoyed Mister Terrific is also going bye-bye along with Blackhawks (G.I. Joe in the DCU), Men of War, O.M.A.C. (No surprise there) and Static Shock.
Replacing them will be Batman Incorporated (Why God, why!?!), World's Finest, Dial H, G.I. Combat written by JT Krul (Um didn't we just cancel this book? It was called Blackhawks), Earth 2 and The Ravagers which just sounds like DC's version of the Runaways. It's also a spin-off of Teen Titans so I'm expecting it to just be more Teen Titans, but with characters you've never heard of before.

Anyone sad by these cancellations? Interested in these new titles? I'm sure most people are looking forward to Batman Stinc, personally though I will only be checking out two of these at the most. We'll talk more about it on the podcast this week I'm sure. Until then... promo art! DC is great at covers!

Batman stINK! HA!
Pull six crap books, plug in six crap books.
Is DC taking the George Lucas approach to fan raping? This "New 52" is the equivalent of the special editions of the Star Wars movies but for the DC Universe: reissue comics with some new effects and force your dedicated fan base to purchase the same rehashed product.
I give DC credit for trying to reinvent themselves for a new generation, but I call shenanigans on this played out, reconstituted pablum.
And then the industry complains when we don't shell out $4 for books that were destined to fail.
Although i loved the red lanterns in blackest night, that book needs to get cancelled, partly becasue it's terrible and partly because the corps look like a bunch of pussies.
The six cancellations are no surprise, but we are going to get another bat book! ughhhh!!!
